Blockchain Identity for things and persons
The HardBlock project will develop a mixed hardware / software system for a permissioned blockchain and:
- The project will introduce the new Proof of Physical Existence (PoPE) and Proof of Physical Presence (PoPP) to reduce the high costs of Proofs of Works.
- Innovative hardware elements (D.BOKs) will be designed and implemented to support the Proof of Physical Existence using PUFs, allowing the unique identification of things that cannot be counterfeit or copied.
- Proofs of Physical Presence will use biometric techniques. Innovative hardware elements (P.BOKs) will be designed and implemented so that users could be authenticated with the highest level of security (compact authenticator, tamper-resistant, and with template protection)
- The Project will reduce current cryptographic limitations, allowing end-to-end authenticated key exchange preventing man-in-the-middle attacks and exploring the use of lattice-based post-quantum algorithms.
